Monica Hardison, Paralegal
Monica Hardison came to the firm in 1993 and has been involved in every aspect of our cases over the last 20+ years. She came to the firm from the Sonoma County Superior Court, Family Law Department, where she was a certified Superior Court Clerk. During her employment with the Superior Court, Monica graduated from Empire Business and Law School with President’s honors in Paralegal Studies. Monica’s background and experience focuses on the nuts and bolts of family law which complement our team perfectly.
The legal work in Family Law consists of many layers. There are certain legal tasks attorneys must manage and do not turn over to anyone else in the firm. On the other hand, there are many tasks and issues that can be handled by a skilled paralegal to increase efficiency by (1) facilitating the flow of information, (2) allowing the attorneys to focus their time on the complexities of the case, and (3) completing tasks at an hourly rate nearly half the rate of the attorney.
Monica is a member of NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants), the Sonoma County Bar Association, and is a State of California Notary Public. Her outside interests are her family, her two horses and related endeavors, mountain biking, and hiking.
Tavis and Bunyard’s goal is to assist the client in resolving their family law matter in the most efficient manner possible.
Linda represented me in an extremely difficult post judgment alimony negotiation. She was always professional and clear in what we could hope to achieve. I appreciate that she did not tell me what I wanted to hear, but what my best and worst case scenarios were. I am thankful that she did not lead me down a costly and destructive path of fighting. Instead she focused on how to get the case settled as quickly as possible under the circumstances. I cannot compliment Linda and her staff enough on the professional manner in which they handled my case.
I hired the Tavis firm in the fall of 2010 to handle my divorce and was assigned Shawn Bunyard as my attorney. The firm did help me retain partial custody of my daughter when my ex petitioned for full custody. I would surely continue having Shawn and the Tavis firm represent me.
My experience with Shawn Bunyard of Tavis and Bunyard was completely positive. He returned my e-mails and phone calls promptly. He was professional in court, while being thoughtful and respectful of my needs. He is a man of integrity and I would recommend him to anyone.
My case went to trial. When you are an emotional wreck it is really nice to have someone you can trust to handle all the things you know nothing about. I put things in the hands of Tavis and Bunyard, and it got done! Some things were handled without me knowing about it. Other things needed my attention. There was not a rock that wasn’t turned over and investigated!
Tavis and Bunyard guided me through the steps needed. From answering all of my questions, preparing me for court, reminding me to breathe when I was anxious, Linda was there for guidance! When I didn’t think things were fair, Linda pointed out that they really were and the value of moving forward. I appreciated Linda listening to my concerns and fears and having someone I could lean on and trust! Her staff was caring and helpful.
Shawn was totally energetic about my case. He is a complete lawyer and now a friend. Can’t say that too often in these situations. His accounting knowledge was incredible. He did everything he said he could do. When I was depressed, down in the dumps, he was able to pick me up and get me to start all over again. He stuck to my case to the end and produced great results. I recommend no one else. Need a friend who’s a lawyer? Call Shawn, PERIOD!
Linda Tavis & her firm guided me through a difficult divorce. It was one of the most challenging times of my life. Throughout the process, Linda reminded me to breathe. She reminded me to focus on my young daughter who had just turned three. Linda was very clear about what I was facing. She offered me options and encouraged me to ask questions. Her staff was always there to respond to my needs and explain the process. I can’t say enough how much it meant to me to have Linda there for me when I needed her. I am eternally grateful.
I was recently involved in a difficult lawsuit with multiple layers of complexity and emotional distress. Linda Tavis was methodical in her approach, thorough in her research and incredibly well-organzied throughout the discovery and trial process. For the entirety of the litigation, I was kept informed and always made to feel confident in the outcome of my case, while remaining completely realistic about my options. Linda did an excellent job representing me in all aspects. I would recommend her to anyone who requires an attorney who is tenacious and provides a high level of service.
During volatile times with intense emotion, the firm generally provided the sanctuary and guidance needed for me to stay the course and remain positive, which was appreciated.
